My poor squinting eyes- why do I paint so small?  

But I actually now paint a little bigger than I use to. I use to paint on 8”x10” paper , then on 9”x12” - and they are growing- Now I paint on 12”x16” paper. But never larger than that. Why? Because now it fits perfectly to the edges on my big oversized Epson scanner. Any larger and I couldn’t scan my art into my computer! 

So until I get a larger scanner- 12x16 it is

My Process

Sharing a bit of my process today. 

I’m a color worrier. And committing to a color combo gives me anxiety. Picking colors does not seem to come easy for me. I spend a lot of time staring at a pencil sketch thinking about the right colors to paint. So often I will print out my sketch and do quick little color wash plans - like the one here- quick washes of gouache on laser prints. This one was the 6th one I did before i decided these were the colors this one would be.  Then- I start with the eyes.

Pumpkin Paintin'

So I am a terrible pumpkin carver.  Seriously, the worst.  I think it's just that I struggle a bit when it comes to creating 3D.  Sculpting is not my strong suit.  But give me any surface and a few paints, and I can go to town.  

The past couple of Halloweens I have been painting my pumpkins.  This year the beyond long false lashes are a new addition to the fun.

Happy Halloween weekend!  And wish me luck at Sundays big pumpkin carving party.  Last year I won 2nd place, trophy and all- and yes- mine was painted, not carved.  But this year I'm bringing the lashes- im shootin for 1st!

Even Witches Love Glitter

Of course every witch novel should have mystical swooshes that are glittery.  Right? I mean- really!

Indeed- these magical swirls are glittered- should make every girly girl witch out there happy!
While this book came out a few months back- it's been on my mind- as it's been sitting on my desk this week as I am working on the 3rd cover in this Wishcraft Mystery series (author-Heather Blake).  Will keep you posted when number 2 hits the stores- very soon (august)!

TCB Baby

Thats right- TCB Baby- Taking care of business.  Vegas style, that is.  Licensing Expo 2012.

And nothing says Vegas more than an oversized cherry red stiletto.  right?

This is me in my booth.  Attack of the 50 foot Bella girl!

It was a great show, don't be misled by my sour face.  This was just the last day, and I was down 200bux.  Darn blackjack!

Being a massive licensing trade show you see all sorts of awesome characters walking the floor - usually a super hero, or a furry animal- but this year, my favorite-  were the Pan Am ladies. you go girls!

And then can it get any cuter than this? love em.

What I love about the Cosmopolitan is that they have an Art-O-Mat vending machine in the casino.  How cool is that?!  For just 5bux you can own your own little piece of one of a kind art the size of a cigaret box.  Plenty to choose from.   Love it.
