On the left- a quick pencil sketch followed by a bit of color planning so I know my general direction (which is nothing fancy- just light washes of my gouache paint on a laser print out of sketch). On the right, the painting - at this point, a work in progress. It's my second go at painting this one. I’ve been known to tear up a piece half way through (out of serious dissatisfaction and I had the first one I painted next to this one on my table while I painted this second one to remind me what I don’t want to do on this new one.
And once I’m happy with this second one- oh yes, the first one will be...destroyed (it was really quite muddy and unpleasant, I promise you).
And here is the final piece:
This is Deborah... an American in Paris. She decided it was much more fashionable to walk her bicycle, as riding it would only wrinkle her freshly pressed French label coat.
So she knew to wear ballet flats today for the long stroll- Deborah’s quite stylishly sensible that way.
New year and a good time for change. I’m sensing you might be needing a new look for your devices? If so- these girls are now available on skins and cases to hang out on your iPhone, iPods, Samsung, iPad, MacBook, Chromebook, Nintendo, PlayStation, Echo, Oculus and more!!
Rollin’ into the new year with some sushi and sparklers!

Texting and emailing are a must - I’m with ya - but don’t forget the amazingness of hand writing. Keep those greeting cards and note cards flying thru those postal mail boxes this 2020. I promise you the person on the receiving end will love it!! I heart my keyboard - but I HEART my pens and pencils and paper!...As much as I heart sushi!!!! Yum.
While I spend most of the year in the awesome world of printed greeting cards - every once in a while I like to hand make a few. On the table this week: handmade holiday greetings. Glitter glue was of course a must.
This shimmery Chanukah treat is back again for another holiday season. Because it’s not just my cards that are topped off in glitter- of course the holiday gift wrap is as well! Have a super sparkly holiday!

While I try to use my reusable straws at home as often as I can remember- sometimes I forget to take them with me to the coffee shop. So today I’ve decided I will at least reuse the perfectly lovely little piece of long narrow white sketch paper they come wrapped in! .
Next up (and new) with the sweet themed cards this week- birthday cake... yum!
You may notice something is a bit different about the look of these two new birthday cards of mine. Look close- yes- pastels! You usually see my cards featuring art painted in gouache paints. But for these two, I thought I would change things up a little.
But don’t you worry all you glitter lovers- these may have a new look since drawn in pastels... but we certainly have not forgotten about the shimmery glitter and rhinestones to top em off!
